May 15 - 19

Hi Room 4 Families,

We had plenty of fun learning in Room 4 this week, despite the smoky days that we have been experiencing.

With the air quality being so bad, we were unable to get out for our daily community walks and outdoor movement breaks. We also did not get to the Public Library as we had planned. We are hopeful that we can visit there in the upcoming week if the air quality improves. Fingers crossed! As a friendly reminder, if the weather cooperates and the air quality is okay, we will be walking each day.

We spent a considerable about of time this week learning about water conservation. We read the books, The Water Walker and We Are Water Protectors. We discussed how water is a basic need for all living things and that without it, we could not survive. We also learned that there are places in Canada where the water is not fit for human consumption, which we all agree is not okay. We will continue our work on Water Conservation by retelling the story, We Are Water Protectors. We plan on making our own illustrations and then taking our work and sharing it with the school by creating a story walk for all students and staff to read.

Zoo Field Trip forms were sent home on Friday. We will be heading to the zoo on June 1st and are looking forward to this special day. We will connect the learning we have been doing in class related to endangered animals. We will participate in a class scavenger hunt while we are there. Please return the signed forms as soon as possible. Additionally, we do not require any parent volunteers for this field trip.
