Feb 27- Mar 3

 Hi Room 4 Families,

Another incredible week of learning in our classroom. We were happy to get outside a little more this week. We are all eager to take our daily community walks (when the weather cooperates) and had fun this week observing a little squirrel friend in the alleyway near our school. It really amused us! As the weather warms up, we will spend more time outside exploring the community and natural areas. We will also do some journaling to document our experiences and learning.

In literacy this week, one group finished their short chapter book as well as the accompanying comprehension tasks on Google Classroom. Other groups worked on decodable texts to practice phonic skills. If you wanted to check out Flyleaf Publishing, you will find decodable stories with practice activities to complete after each passage. This would be great for home reading or if your child will be away from school and is looking for something to do. We also started echo and choral reading St. Patrick's Day poems, as a larger group, to further develop our reading fluency. Some of us are keen to get up in front of the class and read them aloud independently.

In Math, we worked on skip counting, and subtraction, and completed a little quiz. We also enjoyed logging on to Splash Learn to practice our math skills.

In Science, we did a little more work on animal habitats and took a virtual field trip to observe the various animals that inhabit the desert. Next week, we will begin to complete an animal research using the website PebbleGo.

To end the week, we created a beautiful watercolour painting to brighten up our classroom and to send Spring vibes to Mother Nature in hopes Spring weather will come sooner rather than later!

If you have not done so already, please be sure to sign up for a conference, which is happening on Thursday evening and Friday morning. Online, in-person or even over the phone are available options for your convenience.
