April 17-21

 Dear Room 4 Families,

We had a fabulous week in Room 4. We all continue to work very hard on developing our reading skills and our teachers are so proud of us! If you haven't checked out RAZ Kids at home yet (the login information is stapled inside the agenda folder), it is a wonderful digital program that our school has purchased. It is a great way to practice and improve comprehension and fluency. 

Digraph Word Ladder Activity- I can change one grapheme to make a new word

We continued gymnastics this week with centres. The Climber Wall and foam mats were definitely our favourites. Next week, we will end our unit with Mission Impossible! Sure to be a challenging, yet fun way to utilize all of our movement skills. 

 School Recycling Leaders

We spent plenty of time this week learning how to be environmental stewards. We were very interested in learning about how climate change and global warming have affected the polar bear population. We discussed simple ways that we can help the environment and our planet without even leaving our houses. 

Next week, we will get back into our community walks and continue with our nature journaling. Additionally, we will continue to work on the concept of money in math, along with subtraction and skip counting. 

Please check your child's agenda for information about the upcoming School Dance on May the 4th- Star Wars themed of course! Additionally, updated IPPs will be sent home early next week. Please review your child's IPP when it comes home, sign it and have your child return it to school. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out :).

Ethel M. Johnson School - School Council Fundraising  

1 - Spring Plant / Mother's Day Fundraiser  

School Council is selling plants and flowers to raise money for EMJ programs! Plants are a great way to encourage our friends to get out into the garden while choosing to support a healthy fundraiser. We could not do this without you! 

Order Deadline: April 26

2 – Galactic Dance Party 

Date: May 4 (6:00 pm to 8:00 pm) 

EMJ Families are invited to our spring dance event – A Galactic Dance Party.  Tickets must be purchased in advance for (see attached invitation)

2. Pizza (if you do not pre-order, Council cannot guarantee pizza on the night of the event) 

Please note parents are required to attend with their children.
