June 5 - June 8

 Hi Room 4 Families,

It has been a sweltering week! Room 4 stayed cool by taking community walks in the morning, and having storytime and mindfulness in the shade, underneath the tree. We really enjoyed spending time in nature and being with our own thoughts.

We explored the concept of sorting in math this week. We discussed why sorting items is important and read the book, What a Mess! We made connections between math and everyday experiences. We realized that sorting happens in our everyday lives, and it helps keep spaces tidy and allows us to find items easier.  Additionally, we discussed different ways coins could be sorted (i.e., all silver in one group, by amounts, ones that have animals, etc).

We had some special visitors this week. The Grade 3 class let us borrow their little ducklings. We had so much fun observing them, learning how they communicate and snuggling them.

We continued our work on being environmental stewards and began our illustrations for our Water Protectors book.

** Friendly Reminder: We will be taking community walks daily (provided the weather cooperates).
